| What is Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is a modality based on Chinese Medicine that identifies and balances stress in the body/mind system. These imbalances are corrected through the use of acupressure holding points and many other techniques.
How does it work?
Using Quantum physics, it was discovered that the interface between the body and mind is at the muscle. So through the use of muscle testing, one is able to identify stress responses in the subconscious mind.
How does that follow?
Each muscle tested, relates to a specific energy pathway, an organ and a gland, so through muscle testing, one can obtain a picture of where the energy imbalances are, as well as finding the right correction to use.
What results can I expect?
A sense of calm; the ability to think clearly; an end to insomnia; better relationships; relaxed, pain free muscles; emotional equilibrium and having the tools to manage life better on all levels. The Life Skills teach fundamental lessons that are often missing. Another common result in Leeuwkop Prison is inmates saying they now “Know Who They Are” and have regained hope to look ahead and plan for a better future.
What if I come for a painful leg?
Kinesiology works on all levels. Therefore I would test and then strengthen weak/unbalanced muscles.
What is the most usual thing people would come to you for?
I think I have pretty well worked with every possible variety of imbalance over the past twenty years so it is difficult to say which is the most common problem. I suppose it would have to be stress in all of its different form.
This sounds like an area for doctors?
Kinesiology can be learned and practiced by anyone. However, medical doctors researched and wrote the material that is taught and used internationally. It is absolutely safe and can be used by anyone.
Do I have to believe it will work?
No. We are working with the energy system in the body, and re-aligning it so that the body can heal itself. It has nothing to do with religion, or a belief system.
Where did you study?
I was lucky enough to be trained mostly by international trainers, right here in South Africa.
How long have you been a kinesiologist?
I started my healing journey in 1990. Therefore, nearly twenty years.
What are your qualifications?
After school and working for a few years as a secretary, I completed a Reflexology Diploma in 1990. The following year I started to study Kinesiology. I ran my own clinic, working with clients as soon as I was qualified to do so and have been doing that for the past twenty years. Since the early 1990’s, I also qualified as an Instructor and began teaching Touch For Health and other more advanced classes. In addition I never stopped studying and have done Reiki, Holographic Repatterning, Educational Kinesiology and many other courses.
I am a registered Trainer with the International College of Kinesiology in Australia and a Faculty Member of the International College of Professional Kinesiology Practice in St. Heliers, New Zealand. A few years later I started my own college called S.A. Kinesiology Practitioner College. Currently I am the Gauteng Proficiency Examiner for Touch For Health.
In June 2006 I started to teach groups of inmates as an NGO at Leeuwkop Security Prison, Johannesburg, South Africa.

About the Book and the Prison
Why did you write this book?
After working for nearly four years in Maximum Security Prison, I discovered universal stresses suffered by prisoners in general. The inmates I have taught inspired and encouraged me to write this book.. It is my hope that they share their newfound knowledge with others, as it is a vehicle for self healing, learning, and teaching offenders to positively give back to society and to walk away from crime. I feel very passionately that rehabilitation is not optional for these people.
Who is it geared towards?
It helps all stressed and troubled people. Although the book is targeted at prisoners because of their victories of the past three years, the life skills modules and exercises are relevant and useful for anyone under emotional stress: people who are traumatised, angry and fearful about the future. Also those who want to reach their potential and become the best they can be in life.
How would an inmate work on himself?
By following the instructions in the book, anyone can learn how to restore balance and equilibrium to their body/mind system. There are easy to follow instructions, with photographs of specific holding or rubbing points on the body, as well as specific exercises to practice.
What would one use these techniques for?
Most techniques in the book are not specific to a certain problem. The corrections chosen are universal and can be used in many applications. The idea is to bring a person holistically back into balance on all levels. Thus, the corrections would be used for issues such as stress, depression, guilt, control issues, pain, anger management, relationships, focus and concentration, improved self-esteem and better communication. These problems are very common in prison and have been largely overcome by many inmates who have followed this program.
